WHAT IS A HUMIDIFIER?

A humidifier is a device that puts water vapor into your home’s indoor air. The right humidity balance inside your home is important for both your comfort and the house itself.

OPTIMAL HEALTH & COMFORT

For optimal health and comfort – relative humidity levels should range from 30 to 50% in the winter and 40 to 50% in the summer. Sustaining humidity at these levels usually requires mechanical assistance.

RESPIRATORY HELP

Your respiratory system needs moisture to fight off viruses and bacteria. When the air is too dry, you are more susceptible to colds, coughs, and other respiratory ailments. When the air is too dry it can draw moisture from your eyes, lips, skin, carpets, furniture, upholstery, etc.

Carol Flynn Dehumidifiers

ATTACHING A HUMIDIFIER TO YOUR HEATING EQUIPMENT

We can attach a central humidifier to your forced-air furnace and pipe water directly to it. Humidified air can then be effectively and efficiently delivered throughout your house. Humidification only takes place however while your furnace is running. This is the best time to humidify your air because it is your furnace that is primarily responsible for drying the air.

Carrier Humidifiers

Carrier is the largest manufacturer and distributor of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in the world. They are a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a steam humidifier?

Steam humidifier is an HVAC system that works by adding moisture to air by heating water until it boils. It essentially creates moisture indoors even without turning the furnace on.

How much energy does a steam humidifier use?

Humidifier can use up as much as 250Watts or more.  If left running for 10hrs a day for the entire three-month period, you will pay as much as $2.70 if you pay ¢10 /kWh for your electricity.

How does a fan-powered humidifier work?

Fan-powered humidifier works by sucking air from the ductwork to moisturize the air and distributes it internally to prevent humidity loss. This type of humidifier uses internal fans to direct air and can operate without the aid of the furnace.

What is the difference between bypass and fan-powered humidifiers?

Bypass humidifier operates by using the blower motor of the furnace. While the latter uses its own internal fan to push air through the unit. This means bypass humidifiers work in conjunction with the furnace to moisturize air thus preventing humidity loss.
